An old cow bison dies of natural causes and is mourned by other members of the herd. The dead bison is kicked and scraped by the horns of another bison in an act to attempt to wake it up. After the bison leave, a small colorful grizzly bear finds the carcass, accompanied by other scavengers such as ravens, eagles, and coyotes.
